Import Warning
RCL Software added the import option because so many churches have requested it. It is very important to understand that because this feature is included it does not mean RCL Software in anyway will guarantee you will be successful. There are too many types of database files. What you have may not be compatible with someone elses data. There have to be hundreds of library programs and no two of them will be alike.
We have included this feature so the user will have the opportunity to successfully import their current database. RCL Software uses a relational database. The author, publisher and subjects are in different physical files. The author's name is in the author file with a number that corresponds to a number in the resource file. The only real solution is to import your books, authors, publishers and subjects separately. Then using MLM open each resource record in edit mode and use the look up feature to add the author, publisher, etc.
RCL Software uses numeric accession numbers. Many older programs use a combination of alphanumeric characters. For example an accession number 100 will be a book, whereas VC100 is a video. This type of numbering system is not compatible with MLM. A solution, though not a simple one, is to create your source file with books having valid numeric accession numbers. Any conflicting accession numbered resources, video and audio, will have to be entered as if each were a new item.
