Using Media Library Effectively
The Media Library program has some features and shortcuts that are unique. All of these are included to make the maintaining and searching of the data as simple as possible.
First there are some rules! All entry fields in blue are required. Some need data
in them and others need specific data related to other files. For example every
book must have a title! The title field is required and is blue. Every book must
have an author! The author number field is blue. The number must be in the
author file so any number will not do. There is a Find button to help in locating
the correct author.
Installed with the program is a data entry form document files. These can be
loaded into Word pad or Word. Use these as a guide when preparing to enter
new titles into the program.
1. assigns a subject,
2. enters it into the Media Library program,
3. processes the book, and
4. put it on the shelf when finished.
Most entry fields will automatically capitalize correctly as data is being entered.
This will happen regardless of the use of the caps key.
When entering a title the prefix of An, The, or A will be moved to the end and be separated by a comma. Remember when doing a title search to NOT include these leading words.
All date fields have a calendar look up next to the field. There is a short cut to entering dates, enter the month and day, 0101, then press enter or the tab key and the current year will be filled in automatically.
