Subject Maintenance
Subjects -> Maintenance
Maintaining subjects is not a task to take lightly. The ID or identification number assigned by the application should not be confused with the Dewey classification number. This ID number is only used by the database as a simple means of identification. My social security number is a means of identification but it is not my name.
It is important that the correct subject is entered into the subject data file. And when entering a new resource the subject selected is also very important. This program will not compare subject entries. Careless data entry can cause near duplicates caused by entering additional spaces, a hyphen being use incorrectly, or just not making sure the subject doesn't exist before adding one which is very similar.
