The first time Easy Church Membership is run the program will assign the current year, YYYY, as the year to report tithes, offerings pledges. From then on every time the program is started the current year is compared to the assigned current year. If you use envelope when the New Year is reached the church must reset the New Year’s envelope numbers. If you do not use envelopes or you have not assigned everyone a new envelope number this warning does not apply to your church. This warning will only be displayed the first time Easy Church Membership is started in the new year. There will not be another reminder so it is important you run the new envelope process as soon as possible. See Tracking Tithes and Offerings for the details of envelope number assignment.
The design of Easy Church Membership is based on the family. There must be one member for each family that has been entered. This is the primary contact! When a new family is added and saved a new member is also added automatically.
Church activity is associated with the member: tithing history, ministry, committees, events, and Sunday School. Tithing can be entered for the member using anonymous envelope numbers.
The first step is to enter the family and the members of that family. See Enter Family and Family Members for more detailed information. It is best to enter the member spouse followed by any children and others who live at the family address.
Tithes and offerings are a little more difficult and needs careful planning. First what is the current date? If it is the first quarter entering historical data will be easier because there is not that much of it. If it is later in the year the task is more difficult.
If your church has decided not to use envelope numbers and enter tithes and offerings using the member name the task is much simpler.
When each member is entered you can enter that member’s envelope number. Of course, the envelope number may be entered later too.
