There are a number of fields that lookup to a file with user defined definitions. They are:

ü Relation - this is a member's relation to the Primary Contact, the Family name and address.  Though there is no limit to the number of relation definitions we suggest you not use a great many.  The minimum would consist of spouse and child.  This list could be expanded to spouse, son and daughter.  The potential problem is there may be so many it is difficult to keep up.  Your church administration will have to define the limits.  You will see in the sample database we have included a large number of selections, so many that we thought using them constructively might be a problem.

ü Membership Type - this is the user defined type of membership. The membership type can only be selected if there is a check mark in the Church Member box.  We suggest keeping the list of options short.  We use Default, Shut-in, Military and Nursing Home.  Do not confuse this with a member being inactive.

ü Sunday School Class - or any small group Bible study.  A person can be a member of a class without being a church member.  And they can also be a church member and not attend Sunday School.

There is more information that can be gathered about each member.  The list includes: birthday, gender, marital status and giving envelope number.

With the advent of digital photography your church can print a directory of the members and the family.  There is a field for the path to a JPG or GIF file.
