General FAQ All Programs

Q.  I downloaded a program to evaluate but there is someone else's data in it?
A.  All of the programs available from RCL Software has a sample data base. We believe a majority of persons will be better able to understand how the program is to work if there is information to view. The sample database can be removed by Initializing the database. This will remove all of the sample information. Now your information can be added. If you are still evaluating the application the program will stop when the number of new records are greater than ten.

Q.  What does a download purchase mean?
A.  A download purchase is a quick and easy way to get started right way entering your data. If you downloaded one of the programs available from RCL Software to evaluate it before buying you have the program on your computer already. The evaluation program contains a database of sample information to allow the user to see exactly what information is available and how it appears. When you decide to purchase all that is needed to enable the program is the registration password and for you to Initialize the Database to remove the sample database.

Q.  I downloaded a program and purchased it. How do I protect my churches investment?
A.  You did download the installation program and have it on your computer. To protect your investment in case of a computer crash you should burn the installation program to a CD. I think it is impossible to buy a computer without this function!

Q.  The registration password has been lost and we need to reinstall the program. Can RCL Software help?
A.  No! The individual or the church is responsible for keeping the password in safe place not RCL Software. As a church leader you must protect the resources Jesus has allowed your church to accumulate. Depending on the type of purchase, download or installation CD, the password was given to you. In the case of a download purchase the registration password is included in the email RCL Software sent. When shipping an installation CD the registration password is on the CD label and included in the printed document. The following was also included in the document:

” Print this message and keep it in a safe place. You are responsible for the safe keeping of the password not RCL Software. We can not and will not be responsible. If you lose the password you will be required to purchase the program again.”

Q.  I purchased the program so why do I have to register?
A.  Most of the time a purchase is made on a personal credit card but the program is going to be used and licensed to your church. The church should be the registered user. The only exception is The Pastor’s Study and Easy Sunday School Planner. Both of these programs are licensed to the individual. The church does not own the license in these two cases.

Q.  I want to register but don't know how to do it!
A.  First you have to have an open Internet connection. Second you have to have entered the registration password. Now registering is simple.  On the main menu bar of the application the last selection on the right is Help.  Click Help and find the Registration option. Click it to open a small window. There is a hyperlink that will connect you to our registration page. Click the hyperlink and fill out the information. Once all the information has been entered click the Submit button to complete the registration process.

Q.  I have placed my download order and been charged but have not received the password as promised, what do I do now.
A.  Because of the spam problem and the existence of some aggressive spam filtering programs it is important you add rclsoftware to the list of email address you will accept. In addition frequently check your email programs spam folder and look for mail from Bob (@) rclsoftware (.) com.

Q.  I want to register but don't know how to do it!
A.  On the top menu click on the Help selection. You will see in the list Register your Product. Click on it and you will see a window explaining the ways to register your purchase. If you have an Internet connection just click on the link rclsoftware.com. The program will dial your default connection or if you are already connected it will bring up the registration page on our web site.

Q.  Are there any limits to the number of entries?
A.  No, the number of records that can be entered is only limited by the amount of available disk space.

Q.  Why are the RCL Software programs so inexpensive?
A.  This is a ministry/business. A business had to be started to account for any income made by RCL Software. There are costs and there are taxes. On the other hand we do not have many of the expenses normally associated with a business. We have no rent, or payroll, and we keep our advertising to a minimum, depending on our satisfied patrons to spread the word about RCL Software.

Q.  I’ve read on your site that upgrades are free. Is that true?
A.  Yes, upgrades for all of the titles available from RCL Software are available free. If you download the new version. If you require an installation CD their is a nominal cost to cover handling and postage. We will continue with this policy as long as the Lord directs. You must register each program purchased from RCL Software. If you have registered you will be contacted by email when a new version is released.

Q.  Is there a manual or help?
A.  Every program has context sensitive help. Simply press the F1 key while on any window. This action will display help relevant to the currently open window. There is also an User Manual in Adobe Acrobat format.

Q.  If I have an idea or see a problem how can I let you know?
A.  Not only can you make a suggestion but we can only make our programs better if you do. I do not claim to know everything there is to know about anything. For instance, The Pastor's Study would not be as useful as it is if we did not receive feedback from our patrons. Go to our support page and either email us or give us a call. We love to hear from our patrons.
