MARC Lookup Function

Our enhanced MARC function now will search many free library sites.  There are more than 50 sites in our MARC database.  Enter a valid ISBN number and click the button to start the search.  MLM will search your favorites, or all sites, until either the information is found or all sites have been searched.  This will improve the chances of completing the search successfully.

 Requirements

There must be an OPEN Internet connection.  We recommend DSL, Cable, or a T1 line.  I am sure a dialup connection will work, much more slowly, but it has not been tested.  DSL and Cable are 25 to 50 times faster than dialup.

 How Mark Works

To use the MARC Lookup function you must enable it.  See Program Settings for instructions.  Next there has to be an open Internet connection.  That is all that is needed.  When the Add button is clicked the MARC Lookup window will open.

Enter the ISBN in the entry field.

Click the Globe button to the right of the ISBN entry field.  The function will attempt to connect to the Internet and return the requested data.  Before the connection is complete the first time, depending on your firewall and Internet security software, you may have to verify you want the connection to be made.  Once the connection is made and the ISBN is found in the Library of Congress Voyager database the information will be displayed.

Above is the complete record for the ISBN that was requested.  Notice the Result message: Record Found.  If the number is not found there will be a Not Found message displayed.
